Our public team brings together education, filmmaking, performing and culinary arts, technology and camp operations. Meet the people behind it; a team biography is not a promise of who will lead a particular week.
Director of Film & Emerging Arts · A thirty-one-year veteran of visual effects who founded the acclaimed Lost Boys | School of VFX, helping launch the careers of hundreds of artists. Raised across the water in the Comox Valley, this region has always been home.
Director of Performing & Culinary Arts · A multidisciplinary artist and integrated member of the Denman Island community, with a career built across music, culinary arts, content creation, and brand design. She leads Performing & Culinary Arts programming at Camp Denman.

The Creator in Residence invitation is for a professional artist, creator or storyteller to make their own work alongside camp participants. Residents are selected by invitation; applications are welcome, but do not guarantee an offer. A workshop or talk is optional and agreed separately.
We show a named resident only when an assignment is confirmed and approved for public sharing. An open opportunity is not a confirmed guest.

Choose with clear answers
Does a Labs account reserve a place at Creator Camp?
No. Labs is the online creative workspace. A Labs account alone does not reserve camp dates or a tent. Check your chosen camp’s current inclusions for any Labs access that comes with your stay.
Are dates blocked when a Creator Camp has no assigned resident?
No. A Creator Camp window without an assigned Creator in Residence remains open to other hosted plans unless an existing booking or hold protects those dates. Check the calendar and ask the team to confirm the plan.
How do I request dates for a wedding, retreat or private camp?
Use the hosted-gathering inquiry with your preferred dates and group plans. The team confirms the scope, availability and quote. Signing up for a public camp and requesting a private event are different steps.
A few practical things.
Do I need a finished idea?
No. Bring something you want to explore, or the curiosity to begin. Talk to us about your experience and the track that could fit.
Is a Creator in Residence guaranteed?
No. Only a confirmed, publicly approved assignment is presented as a named resident. The residency does not replace your track.
Can I come for part of the week?
Creator Sessions offer Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday within eligible weeks. Registration shows the options for your dates.
Are all studio rooms open?
No. The camp studio page includes planned rooms that are not yet open. Confirm access, equipment and the support your project needs before you register.
