The Campus
Camp Denman is a developing creative campus on Denman Island, British Columbia — 37 acres of forest, orchard, and oceanfront being thoughtfully renewed as a place for arts, learning, collaboration, and shared experience. Set along Baynes Sound, the campus is designed to offer something increasingly rare: a place where people can step away from routine, live and learn together, and create in close connection with land, community, and purpose.

A Place Rooted in History
At the heart of the campus is the original Elkhaven lodge, a longstanding gathering place that served generations of children and families. Camp Denman is carrying that legacy forward through a new vision for creative and educational life on the property, restoring the site with care while shaping it for contemporary use.
Spaces for Making, Learning, and Gathering
The campus is being designed to support a wide range of creative practices, with dedicated studios, classrooms, gathering areas, and shared amenities that together create a cohesive environment for focused work and community life.
The Main Building
The original Elkhaven lodge — two stories of solid construction being restored and reimagined as the creative and social heart of the campus. Studios, classrooms, and the kitchen are taking shape within this historic structure.
Residential Campus Life
On-Site Accommodation
Program participants are housed in tent cabins with heating and cooling, set on raised platforms across the forested campus. Accommodation is included as part of every residency — designed for comfort and connection to the natural setting, with a balance of privacy and community.
Shared Amenities
Three meals daily from the commercial kitchen. Covered outdoor dining overlooking Baynes Sound. Communal gathering areas and fire pits for evening sessions and informal connection.
Land, Ocean, and Atmosphere
From the forest trails to the oceanfront, from the heritage orchard to the campus grounds, the setting is defined as much by its natural environment as by its buildings. The landscape offers room to think, breathe, reflect, and connect — an environment where the experience of place becomes part of the creative process itself.

Almost 1,000 feet of oceanfront along Baynes Sound, connecting the campus to the natural rhythms of the coast.

Art Studio
A light-filled studio for tactile, hands-on practice, where materials, process, and imagination come together in a setting that invites focused creation.
Code & AI Lab
A creative technology space where participants can turn ideas into working tools, digital experiences, and new forms of expression through code and guided AI.
Classrooms
Flexible learning spaces where teaching, dialogue, critique, and collaboration support the deeper life of creative work.
Live Performance Room
A warm, intimate room for live expression, where performance, rehearsal, and shared experience become part of the creative life of the campus.

The kitchen serves as a central gathering place for shared meals and daily connection, while also offering an inspiring backdrop for food-focused content creation, storytelling, and visual work.
