What you will do
- Plan the session with the creator: purpose, references, participants, needed inputs, practical scope and review or delivery needs.
- Prepare and check the agreed recording chain: microphone choice and placement, routing, gain, monitoring, headphone comfort and a usable recording space.
- Record music, spoken voice or podcasts within the agreed capability; coach patiently, listen closely and keep clear take and session notes.
- Edit and organize audio, make appropriate clean-up and mix decisions, and explain limits honestly. Preserve original recordings and do not promise to restore an unusable take.
- Maintain labelled sessions, versions and backups; deliver agreed mixes, stems or other files with a clear handoff and the needed rights and credit notes.
- Coordinate with camera operators, instructors and camp operations on recording schedules, quiet periods, synchronization and available equipment.
- Obtain the required permission before recording, sharing or using a voice in an AI workflow. Follow approved privacy and safeguarding processes, especially for minors and private sessions.
- Use only authorized source audio, music and tools; protect private takes and identify safety, access, equipment or permission issues early. Mastering, live sound or gear ownership are not assumed parts of this role.
What you bring
- Recording or mix examples, or an equivalent project walkthrough, that clearly identify your contribution and listening decisions.
- Practical signal flow, microphone placement, gain staging, routing and monitoring skills, with attention to comfortable, safe listening levels.
- Confidence recording and editing in an audio workstation and making balanced mixes; exact software and licences will be agreed.
- Organized take management, original-file preservation, session versions, backups and reliable handoff.
- Patient artist support, clear nontechnical explanations, collaborative feedback and the judgment to pause when permission or a technical limit is unclear.
- Safe use of agreed equipment and participation in the required on-site work with reasonable access arrangements discussed. No personal studio, degree or particular software brand is assumed.
Helpful experience
- Experience across music, dialogue, voiceover or podcasts, with strengths in one or more of these areas.
- Familiarity with Pro Tools, Logic Pro, REAPER, Ableton Live or another suitable workstation; transferable skills matter more than a particular brand.
- Useful skills in acoustic problem solving, headphone mixes, vocal editing, dialogue clean-up or audio-for-picture handoff.
- Experience helping new performers feel comfortable and keeping a session focused without rushing the person.
